For our South Madison staff, children, and community, this new chapter represents many different possibilities. It marks the end of an eight-year property search, a larger building to finally offer full-day programming to every enrolled child, the capacity to enroll even more local children in need. Children were welcomed into this newly renovated center for Fall 2021 programming.
Daniel's General Contractors started construction in May 2020, shortly after purchasing the property, and currently have a completion date that is months ahead of schedule. Middleton-based architecture firm, Sketchworks, has produced an innovative interior design that will help transform this space into a unique and nurturing early childhood education center. The trauma-informed design and equitable place-making will help define our future programming.

South Madison staff were heavily involved in the planning and decision-making processes. Here our South Madison kitchen staff, Dennys, plans the kitchen layout with Martee of Kessenich's.
The former center shared a communal main entrance with other businesses in a rented commercial complex on Park Street and the playground overlooks a parking lot. The larger building on Latham Drive allows enrolled preschool children to receive full-day programming. It also means we can enroll more children in need that we previously could not accommodate.
We hope this new center contributes community, beauty, and opportunity to the families and children in South Madison and the community at large. Thank you to our business partners, staff, and interested community for helping shape this bright future together. We are fortunate to service the children and families of this area in a pioneering early development center.
