At Reach Dane, we understand and value the importance of serving the whole family. Essential health, education, and workforce programs are often structured to serve either adults or children, rather than focusing on the entire family together. To maximize the impact of high-quality early childhood education we have adopted a systemic, holistic approach to programs and policies to better meet the needs of low-income children and parents. This means children return home to employed parents and have access to healthcare, safe housing, and other key services. Reach Dane staff will continue to work hand-in-hand with impoverished communities to move children and parents on a path towards stability and security.
Our family services department primarily works with Head Start and Early Head Start parents to provide intensive services in both Dane and Green Counties to provide both group and individual support and assistance. These services are funded through Early Head Start and Head Start.
Parent, Family, and Community Engagement
The Office of Head Start Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) Framework is a road map for progress that outlines Family Engagement Outcomes, Program Impact Areas, and Program Foundations that support Child Outcomes - Children are ready for school and sustain development and learning gains through third grade. Through the PFCE we:
- Identify, partner, and collaborate with appropriate community organizations to support family well-being and self-sufficiency.
- Assist and engage families through difficult transitions.
- Support families in completing necessary health screeners.
- Provide opportunities for parents to connect with peers and build a sense of community.
- Engage families to be advocates and leaders for their children, themselves, their family, and their community.
