Comprehensive health services ensure children are ready and able to learn. Families are assisted with nutritional services, finding a family doctor, and securing a funding source for payment of the health care they may need.
Children are screened yearly for vision, hearing, and growth. Reach Dane partners with the University of Wisconsin Madison’s Speech and Hearing Clinic to screen hearing and speech for all Head Start children. Staff also work with families to ensure that children are up to date on well-child checks, dental cleanings, and immunizations.
Reach Dane contracts with UW Hospitals & Clinics for the services of a pediatric nurse practitioner. We also employ a registered nurse on staff. Together, the health team works to ensure the well-being of our children.
Health education is provided for parents including but not limited to: safe practices at home and in cars, purchasing healthy foods, dental health, and tracking their child’s development and acting early if there is a concern.
